A few weeks ago, I was watching one of Priscilla Shirer’s videos (the war room lady) and she shared a story about stopping at a red light, then turning around to sort out her boys in the back seat. Unfortunately, while she was doing that, she saw, in the corner of her eye, the light change from red to green and back to red again. She had missed the green light, and so she had to wait until the next green.
This story she told then got me thinking, how many times have we missed the green lights in our lives? How many of us are stuck in the “waiting mode”, aka the red-light mode?
I am sure most of us have dreams and desires placed on our hearts by God but rather than move forward with them, we are stuck in “waiting mode”. Some of us give the excuse that we are praying about it, when in actual fact, we are just too scared to take that step of faith in the direction of our dreams. I will be the first to admit that I am guilty of this.
For weeks after watching this video, I kept pondering on this green-light red-light issue; the more I thought about it, the more I knew I had to deal with the fear that was holding me back, and just take that bold step of faith to fulfil the dreams I had on my heart.
“And Nathan said to the king, “Go, do all that is in your heart, for the Lord is with you.” (2 Samuel 7:3 ESV)
“And Nathan said to David, “Do all that is in your heart, for God is with you.” (1 Chronicles 17:2 ESV)
Then one fateful day, I picked up one of Joyce Meyers books and this statement jumped at me – “God will put the desire in your heart, and He will help you accomplish it. Your job is to simply use your faith to take a step toward that goal.”
Are you stuck in the “waiting mode” because you missed the green light, or because you are afraid to take that next step? Don’t let fear hold you back, just take the first step and watch God do the rest.
Food for thought: If you are waiting for fear to evaporate before you take the step towards your dreams, then your dreams may never become a reality. Don’t let anything distract you from your Green Light!
