Apple cider vinegar has been believed to cure everything from the simple flu to warts. There is really no evidence to support this but some people believe that adding a little of this to your life may confer some health benefits.
A study was done in Japan to test the idea that apple cider vinegar helps with weight loss. It was discovered that on average, the vinegar group lost about 1-2 pounds over a 3-month period as compared to the water group. The dietician stated that “it may confer some benefits in terms of weight loss but it’s definitely not a quick fix. You still need to exercise and practice portion control.”
Some people believe that it soothes dry throats and promotes digestion. Others also believe that it maintains healthy skin, relieves itchy scalp and improves hair growth.
My sister who is a certified cosmetologist loves to use organic products personally. All her cosmetic products are organic. She says that apple cider vinegar can be used as a facial cleanser because it helps to get rid of blemish and maintains your original skin colour. Her recommendation is as follows:
- In order to use it as a facial cleanser
Mix 1 part apple cider vinegar with 1 part water. Store the mixture in the refrigerator. Cleanse your face with it daily. It would help get rid of your blemish and maintain your beautiful skin tone.
- In order to use it for your hair
First shampoo your hair, and then use the apple cider vinegar to rinse it. It soothes the itchy scalp and strengthens your hair follicles. For people living in the United Kingdom where the “hard” water contributes to hair breakage and split ends, regular use of apple cider vinegar to rinse your hair will reduce the damage to your hair.
It is not advisable to drink apple cider vinegar undiluted because it can damage your teeth and hurt your throat due to its acidic nature. It is better to get a glass of water, add 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, 1 teaspoon of honey to improve the taste, and a slice of lemon. You are then good to go on sipping your drink. It is believed that drinking it helps with detoxification and weight loss.
I have not personally used apple cider vinegar so I cannot make any statement from experience.
What are your thoughts on this? Are there any recommendations or apprehensions about this? Care to share? We would love to hear from you.
